If you’re heading to a Die Spitz show, brace yourself — it’s going to be loud, messy and heavy
We caught Die Spitz in London at The Underworld, Camden’s legendary live venue. The sold-out Tuesday night show was rammed — bodies pressed against the stage, sweat in the air. Soon, band members were crowd-surfing across waves of people. Aerial Salad kicked things off with a fiery, high-energy set, priming the crowd perfectly for Die Spitz’s onslaught.
The night began with a buzz of anticipation until Aerial Salad jumped on stage, kicking things off with catchy, high-energy moves before quickly switching gears. The Manchester-based band showcased tight, punchy riffs and irresistible rhythms, building the crowd’s excitement perfectly and setting the tone for Die Spitz. Their indie-punk sound, marked by sharp guitars and direct, melodic hooks, translated effortlessly in a live setting. Recent material sat comfortably alongside older tracks, highlighting the band’s consistency and growing confidence.
Die Spitz have been surging, first with their blistering EP ‘Teeth’, and then with last year’s album ‘Something to Consume’, which took their sound to another level. As an all-female rebel band with bold, feminist lyrics, they bring energy, focus and a sense of purpose to every song. Watching them now, it’s impossible not to feel grateful for a band this fresh, this fierce and this alive.
They ripped through tracks from ‘Something to Consume’ and both EPs, with Ellie Livingston wild, drunk and fully in charge — crowd-surfing and owning every moment on stage. The audience went ballistic for fan favourites like ‘Pop Punk Anthem’, ‘Punisher’ and ‘Hair of the Dog’. I vaguely recall Ellie joking about being a “geek” who writes songs, before they blasted into ‘Throw Yourself to the Sword’, which kicks off with some seriously damn good riffs — if you know, you know.
It was a night of pure punk catharsis: sweaty, loud and unfiltered. The Austin, Texas quartet had the sold-out London crowd locked in from the first note, shouting every word back at them and proving exactly why their momentum shows no sign of slowing.
