Wet Leg: Moisturizer
It’s here. After what felt like forever, Wet Leg’s second album Moisturizer landed on July 11, 2025, and it’s been on repeat for me ever since. Was it worth the wait? Oh, absolutely, it hits you hard! Certainly as exhilarating as their debut album Wet Leg.
Fans have been impatiently waiting for this release. Moisturizer delivers a mix of vibrant energy, heartfelt lyrics, and irresistible grooves that embody the power of love. But despite being distinctively Wetleg, the album changes the dynamic of the band’s music a bit. It has a more layered and varied sound and its style is definitely bolder and more polished, but without feeling overproduced.
I’ll never forget watching Wet Leg preforming CPR (the song of course) on Tiny Desk Concert. Their energy was intense, with undeniable chemistry lighting up the screen, especially the spark coming from Rhian Teasdale. It was a performance that perfectly embodied the essence of Wet Leg's music: energetic, catchy and playful.
"Is it love or suicide?" The lyrics dive into the exciting yet terrifying feeling of falling deeply for someone and we have all been there!
"Hello, 999, what's your emergency?
Well, the thing is, I, I, I, I'm in love."
This is the first song from the album, and as such, it sets the tone. It’s a song that explores love's highs and lows with humour and vulnerability.
In 2022 Wet Leg's climbed to the top with their hit single Chaise Longue. It earned them the recognition and success they truly deserved. The single generated immense anticipation for their debut album, Wet Leg. The album was awarded Grammy for Best Alternative Album, along with numerous other accolades, amplifying its impact. It had such a hold on me that I partially learned to drum just to be able to play 'Wet Leg' and 'Ur Mom,' the only tracks I know by heart. My love for that album motivated me to stick with drumming as well.
As a sophomore album, Moisturizer builds on that momentum, showcasing the band’s growth as artists, while staying true to their signature sound. The album flows seamlessly with vibrant rhythms and deeply passionate lyrics. Few standouts are the ballad 11:21, a soft and slow love poem that surprises with its tenderness. It's a testament to Wet Leg's versatility and ability to craft songs that resonate on a deeper level. And then there’s Davina McCall. A heart-on-sleeve ballad. Yes, it’s referencing the British TV icon and host of Big brother Davina McCall along with Shakira.
Moisturizer is a natural evolution for Wetleg and an album fans will be very happy with for sure.
