Siamese: dissolution
From a first listen, Siamese’s eleventh studio album, ‘dissolution’, released via Long Branch Records, cements itself as a record of emotional depth, gratifying instrumentals and carefully crafted moods. These elements perfectly capture the album’s exploration of love, self-worth and the overarching theme of a complex father-son relationship that unfolds throughout.
The album opens with ‘dark’, a cathartic blend of soft, angelic vocals from Mirza Radonjica that draws listeners into a track which separates itself from the typical Siamese sound. However, the heavier progression and intensely thrilling bridge firmly establish it as a strong opener to Siamese’s most personal project yet. Beneath Mirza’s vocals and Christian Hjort Lauritzen’s guitar riffs lies a striking, almost fantastical set of lyrics portraying love, desire and forbidden longing.
The album continues to develop with the powerful lyricism of ‘alone’, which uncovers the painful wounds of a father-son relationship that remains central throughout the record. As one of the album’s first deeply personal moments, ‘alone’ introduces the themes Siamese explore in greater depth later on. Mirza’s intense yet clean vocals further elevate a song packed with emotional weight and underlying meaning.
The painful aftermath left by ‘alone’ is swiftly replaced by the desperation that ‘sinners’ brings to the table. Surrounded by vicious vocals is a beautiful bridge that provides a stark contrast between the anger and pain that comes with walking away from a relationship and the desperation of wanting it back.
The title track ties a neat bow around the troubled father-son relationship at the heart of the album. At the same time, ‘dissolution’ adopts an ambiguous approach that allows each track to remain relatable while still carrying deeply personal emotions. Once again, soft harmonies are paired with a more electronic sound, and its placement in the middle of the album helps bring the record’s themes and atmosphere together.
Another standout is ‘reveries’, featuring the established post-hardcore band Caskets. Their collaboration with Siamese results in a track packed with heart-stopping lyrics and killer guitar riffs, creating one of the most cohesive and memorable songs on the album.
These melodic yet powerful tracks are more than enough reason for any metalcore fan, whether familiar with Siamese or not, to stream ‘dissolution’ upon its release. The album delivers a deeply personal, experience-driven journey that balances familiar elements with new sounds the band continues to experiment with.
The release of ‘dissolution’ on June 26 will be accompanied by a Europe and UK tour later in 2026. Siamese will join Dayseeker and Northlane for a run of shows, including performances at major venues such as the O2 Academy Brixton in London. These dates will mark the band’s first shows in support of the new album.
