The Beaches just dropped Touch Myself

The Beaches have just dropped a new single, Touch Myself, and in their press release, the band described it as a song about the struggle to feel pleasure after a breakup, when even trying to “touch yourself” only brings back memories of your ex. It’s raw, personal, and hits hard in all the right places.

Hid my bullet
’Cause everything waist-down is broken
Don’t need no batteries
’Cause the strap’s in the trash with my self-esteem

Right from the first line, Touch Myself dives straight into heartbreak and vulnerability. The title might suggest something playful, but reality is different. It is a song that is emotionally intense, clever, and totally on brand for The Beaches. Their sharp, self-aware lyrics are still front and centre here.

The same energy runs through their second album Blame My Ex, released back in 2023. The overall message is simple: don’t come near me unless you are in therapy. The Beaches have once again proven their ability to blend raw emotion with sharp lyrics. In this day and age, self-awareness is key, and it is such relatability and authenticity that resonates with listeners.

Sound-wise, the track delivers exactly what fans expect: gritty guitar riffs, punchy drums, and a rhythm you can’t help but move to. The production hits a perfect sweet spot as well. It is polished yet emotionally raw.

It is already known that their upcoming album No Hard Feelings, due at the end of August, will include Touch Myself alongside previously released tracks like Did I Say Too Much, Last Girls at the Party, Takes One to Know One. While the new songs on the record are Can I Call You in the Morning?, Sorry for Your Loss, Fine, Let’s Get Married, I Wore You Better, Dirty Laundry, and Lesbian of the Year.

The album seems to focus on themes of modern love, queer identity, heartbreak, and healing. These topics have been core elements of The Beaches’ unique voice. It's shaping up to be a standout release, especially for the queer community. As someone who lives for queer love anthems, I seriously can’t wait for this album to drop.
