BLOODSTOCK Announces First Wave of Bands for 2027
While BLOODSTOCK Open Air 2026 is still in full swing, organisers have already turned their attention to next year, unveiling the first batch of artists confirmed for the 2027 festival. The announcement was made from the Ronnie James Dio Stage following Municipal Waste’s explosive performance, giving fans an early look at what promises to be another unforgettable weekend at Catton Park.
Set to take place from August 5-8, 2027, BLOODSTOCK has kicked off its campaign with three headline acts making waves across different corners of the metal world. Friday night’s top billing goes to Danish heavy metal pioneers Mercyful Fate, who return to the festival with a long-awaited new album in tow. Frontman King Diamond expressed his excitement about returning to BLOODSTOCK, calling their previous appearance “awesome” and promising fans a fresh set featuring new material.
Saturday sees German party-metal favourites Electric Callboy headline the main stage for the very first time. Known for blending metalcore with electronic beats and an infectious sense of humour, the band are expected to transform Catton Park into one giant celebration. Commenting on the announcement Electric Callboy said, “Our first ever Bloodstock. Heavy music, questionable outfits, and thousands of metalheads? Sounds like a Perfect fit to us. We’re in. See you there!”
Closing the festival on Sunday will be another first-time BLOODSTOCK headliner, Motionless In White. The American gothic metalcore band will make their only UK appearance of 2027, bringing their theatrical production and horror-inspired anthems to the festival. Frontman Chris Motionless thanked fans for their continued support, revealing the band had been told they were among the most requested acts to headline the event.
The Sophie Lancaster Stage has also secured an impressive selection of headline performances. Hardcore veterans Madball will kick off Thursday with their trademark New York aggression, while Portuguese black metal force Gaerea close Friday with their atmospheric and emotionally charged sound. Saturday belongs to German blackened death metal project Kanonenfieber, before animated metal phenomenon Dethklok wrap up the weekend with their crushing live show on Sunday.
Special guest appearances on the Ronnie James Dio Stage include sludge legends Acid Bath, British occult rock favourites Green Lung and a special performance celebrating the legacy of Children of Bodom and the late Alexi Laiho.
The supporting bill is packed with established names and rising stars from across the heavy music spectrum. Fans can also look forward to performances from DevilDriver, Corrosion of Conformity, Imminence, Wind Rose, Sylosis, Decapitated, HammerFall, Hypocrisy, The Halo Effect, Humanity’s Last Breath, Conan, Tortured Demon, Gutalax, Witch Club Satan and many more.
The Sophie Lancaster Stage continues the festival's tradition of showcasing diverse heavy music, with confirmed acts including Dutch dark rock outfit Dool, grindcore icons Pig Destroyer, and Italian old-school death metal band Fulci. Organisers have also confirmed that around 100 more bands are still to be announced, meaning the line-up is only just beginning to take shape.
Tickets for BLOODSTOCK 2027 are expected to be in high demand. Early bird weekend passes are available during this year’s festival for £210 with no booking fee, before increasing to £235 once general sales begin on August 10. Fans will also have access to payment plans, Wednesday early access options, coach packages, campervan passes and VIP upgrades.
New for 2027 is an expanded VIP experience, introducing the Serpent's Lair VIP Sanctuary, a luxury accommodation area located just a short walk from the festival arena. Designed to offer a quieter retreat while keeping guests close to the action, the new addition joins the existing Serpent’s Lair campsite as part of BLOODSTOCK’s growing premium offering.
With legendary headliners, an already stacked supporting bill and dozens more announcements still to come, BLOODSTOCK 2027 is shaping up to be one of the festival’s biggest editions yet. Metal fans planning their summer festivals next year may want to secure their tickets early before prices rise and allocations begin to disappear.
